The author of a review on a portal site, who visited on the day of closing, wrote, "I have heard about it while living in Jeonju, but I havent tried it before, so I went after hearing that it was the last day of business." They added, "I hate standing in line to eat, but somehow I ended up waiting for 11 hours. But the taste was worth it. Thank you for your hard work."
The carrot kimbap sold at O Sun Mos Old Kimbap has gained popularity nationwide because it uses simple ingredients such as carrots, eggs, and pickled radish that cannot be tasted anywhere else. The rice, cooked with sautéed carrots and soybean sprout broth, adds to the taste of kimbap.
O Sun Mo, who operated the store, started selling kimbap by wrapping it in an icebox 40 years ago and going around the local sauna and market. After running a kimbap restaurant without a signboard, it gained attention when it was introduced on SBSs "Master of Living" in 2015.
Since then, the famous Jeonju delicacy, carrot kimbap, which requires a minimum of 3-4 hours of waiting, has had even longer waiting times since the news of its closure. Some posts on second-hand trading sites even offered to buy two lines of kimbap for 30,000 won. The price of a single line of carrot kimbap sold at O Sun Mos Old Kimbap is 3,500 won.
