Four Lotte Giants Players Caught Visiting Illegal Gambling Venue in Taiwan

In Tainan, Taiwan, four players from the Lotte Giants are in hot water as it has been confirmed that they visited an illegal gambling establishment while preparing for the 2026 professional baseball season. On the 13th, the Lotte organization stated, "After interviewing the players and confirming the facts, we have identified that Na Seung-yeop, Ko Seung-min, Kim Dong-hyuk, and Kim Se-min visited a location classified as illegal in Taiwan."
The organization added, "Regardless of the reasons, the actions of these four players violate both KBO regulations and our internal rules, and they will be promptly sent back to Korea. We will report this to the KBO Clean Baseball Center, and depending on the outcome, the club will take corresponding measures."
According to KBO regulations, any player found gambling is subject to a suspension of at least one month or a ban from participating in over 30 games, along with a fine exceeding 3 million won. Earlier that day, CCTV images of the Lotte players visiting the illegal gambling venue during a break in their training camp circulated on online communities, leading to controversy and accusations of negligence in team management.
The four Lotte players claimed they were unaware that the facility was an illegal gambling establishment. Among those caught, Na Seung-yeop and Ko Seung-min are key infield players for the Lotte team. Upon their return, they will be excluded from training until further measures are taken by the club, which is conducting an additional investigation into the misconduct that has tarnished the reputation of certain players.
The Lotte organization expressed, "We take this situation very seriously. We will respond strictly to any additional findings through a comprehensive investigation. All players have also been warned, and we sincerely apologize for causing public concern."
Meanwhile, reports emerged that one of the players appeared to have inappropriately touched a female employee at the illegal gambling venue, adding further gravity to the incident.
