Former Lawmaker Ryu Ho-jeong Shares Dining Experience with Lee Jun-seok
Ryu Ho-jeong, a former lawmaker who served in the 21st National Assembly, has recently revealed that she had a meal with Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the Reform Party. On the 21st, it was reported that Ryu discussed the encounter while appearing on News1TVs Fact and View on the 19th. She explained the background of their meeting, stating, "Around the end of November last year, I attended my fathers funeral in Changwon. Most of my acquaintances were from Seoul, and just when we thought things were winding down as the KTX trains had stopped, suddenly Lee showed up."
Ryu recounted her surprise, asking Lee how he managed to come despite the KTX service ending. Lee explained, "Since the KTX had stopped, I took the train to Dongdaegu and then rented a vehicle to get to Changwon." Ryu commented, "It’s not something one could usually do with just effort. I felt thankful, so I suggested we have a meal together in Seoul."
During their meal in Seoul, Ryu and Lee had a playful dispute over the bill. She mentioned, "I wanted to pay for the meal, but since Im earning minimum wage now, Lee ended up covering the cost." They playfully argued about who would pay until Lee ultimately treated her to the meal.
Ryu, who started her career as a labor activist, entered the National Assembly in 2020 as the first proportional representative of the Justice Party, earning the title of the youngest member of the assembly. After leaving the Justice Party in January 2024, she resigned from her parliamentary position and transferred to the Reform Party, where she was nominated for the Seongnam Gap constituency. However, just before the general election, she stated, "Politics in the third zone has failed," and decided not to run. In January of last year, she announced her transition to carpentry.
Currently, Ryu is working as a self-employed carpenter for the second year, focusing on building her business.
