Cirque du Soleils Kooza Returns to Seoul After 7 Years, Captivating Audiences Worldwide

Cirque du Soleils Kooza, chosen by 8 million people around the world, has made its highly anticipated return to Seoul after a seven-year hiatus. Featuring over 120 cast and crew members, including 54 talented artists, the show showcases breathtaking acrobatics that solidify its status as a timeless favorite.
On the afternoon of the 15th, a media conference for Kooza was held at the Big Top in Jamsil Sports Complex, Songpa-gu, Seoul.
First premiered in April 2007 in Montreal, Canada, Kooza has since performed over 5,000 shows across more than 70 cities in 23 countries, attracting approximately 8 million spectators to date.
The set design features a circular circus stage reminiscent of a public square. A key element of the set is the magnificent moving tower known as Bataclan, which captivates audiences with its grandeur and visual appeal. At approximately 39 feet tall, Kooza boasts the highest stage among all Cirque du Soleil productions, with previous stages averaging between 30 to 36 feet.
The name Kooza is derived from the Sanskrit word koza, meaning box, treasure, or chest, aptly reflecting the show’s concept of a circus inside a box.
Artistic Director Jamieson Lindenberg described Kooza as "the circus of circuses," emphasizing its traditional elements of daring acrobatics and clowning, which may seem perilous. He expressed his hope that audiences feel the joy and excitement he experiences while watching the performance. Lindenberg elaborated that the concept of box encapsulates treasures and the challenges and adversities one encounters in life, portraying a characters long journey of self-discovery.
As Kooza unfolds, audiences are invited into a world of wonder, where the risks of acrobatics and the humor of clowning merge to create a captivating experience. The return of Kooza marks a significant moment for both the performers and the fans, promising an unforgettable experience filled with excitement and artistic expression.
