Sejong University (President Eom Jong-hwa) established the Sejong Sharing Volunteer Group in 2013 and has since implemented various social service programs both on and off-campus. The group is recognized for its proactive approach, allowing students to independently plan and execute volunteer activities, thereby leading initiatives for community contribution.

The Sejong Sharing Volunteer Group is guided by the founding principles of Sejong University, which emphasize the Aejih (愛知) spirit of loving truth, the Christian spirit of unconditional love, and the Hunmin (訓民) spirit that reflects King Sejongs creation of the Korean alphabet. This group also focuses on promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A key program under its umbrella is Sejong Nanuri, which began in its first year and has continued through to the 27th session this semester. In the second semester of last year, 21 members led a total of 2,053 participants in various volunteer activities. A distinctive feature of this program is that the volunteer members themselves create the service plans.

Major activities include making scrubbing pads for the elderly, conducting plogging (jogging while picking up litter) in Gunja-dong, assisting elderly individuals with dementia during meals and indoor walking, creating safety umbrellas for children, making scarves for stray dogs, and running blood donation campaigns. The group has also expanded its horizons by offering Moru Doll Making programs for children in developing countries.

Since the second semester of 2022, the group has been operating Sejong Nanum Tutoring in collaboration with local childrens centers. This program provides academic tutoring and career counseling to elementary, middle, and high school students in the vicinity, facilitated by Sejong University students. As of this semester, the program has run through seven sessions. Participants as tutors receive certificates, and outstanding performers are awarded prizes and certificates of merit.

The Sejong Sharing Volunteer Group has also consistently contributed to community culture through music. It comprises approximately 50 undergraduate students who engage in musical activities aimed at enhancing community spirit and cultural engagement. The commitment and enthusiasm of these students reflect the universitys dedication to social responsibility and community service.
