Violinist Yang In-mo and the media art group Kimchi & Chips are set to collaborate for a unique performance that combines music and art, taking place on June 30 at the GS Art Center in Seoul. This innovative partnership is exciting in itself, as Yang In-mo has continuously explored the essence of music with unrelenting curiosity, while Kimchi & Chips has visualized concepts such as technology, nature, and time.

The event will center around the theme of Variation, aiming to satisfy the visual, auditory, and tactile senses of the audience. The specifics of the program remain a secret for now and will be revealed at a later date.

Yang In-mo is a celebrated violinist who gained international recognition after winning the prestigious Paganini Competition in 2015, followed by a first-place finish at the Sibelius Competition in 2022. He is the first Korean to achieve top honors in both competitions. Renowned for his exceptional technique and rich, delicate tone, he has earned nicknames such as Inmonini (a blend of Yang In-mo and Paganini) and Inmorious (Yang In-mo and Sibelius).

In 2021, he released the album Genetics of the Strings through the esteemed classical music label Deutsche Grammophon (DG), further capturing the attention of the music world. Last year, he made a successful debut at the renowned BBC Proms festival in the UK, solidifying his reputation as an outstanding performer.

Kimchi & Chips is a media art group formed in 2009 by South Korean artist Mimi Son and British artist Elliot Woods. They gained international fame when they won the prestigious Ars Electronica Award in 2017 for their work Light Barrier: Third Edition.

In 2021, they received critical acclaim in South Korea for their installation piece Halo, showcased at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul. Halo features a mist dispersal device and follows the trajectory of the sun, reminiscent of sunflowers turning towards the light.

This collaboration between Yang In-mo and Kimchi & Chips promises to be a groundbreaking exploration of the intersection between music and visual art, engaging audiences in a multi-sensory experience.
