Korean Air Collaborates with Lockheed Martin for U.S. Military Aircraft Support

Korean Air has announced a partnership with Lockheed Martin, the worlds largest defense contractor, to provide follow-on logistics support for U.S. military aircraft aimed at strengthening the capabilities of the U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force. This collaboration was formalized on the 22nd during the Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition (ADEX) 2025.
The two companies signed a Partnership Framework agreement during the event, which outlines their commitment to enhancing maintenance support for U.S. military assets in the Indo-Pacific region and third-party countries. Korean Airs involvement is set to significantly boost the operational capabilities of U.S. forces in the region and contribute to timely force enhancement.
In addition to improving operational efficiency, the partnership aims to expand the business to third countries that operate Lockheed Martin aircraft. This expansion is part of a broader strategy to explore opportunities in the global defense market and increase export potential.
This collaboration aligns with the recent policy direction announced by the U.S. Department of Defense regarding the Regional Sustainment Framework (RSF). The RSF aims to optimize maintenance operations by leveraging the capabilities of allied nations in the Indo-Pacific region, thereby reducing the time and costs associated with transporting assets back to the U.S. for repair. The ultimate goal is to maintain the highest level of operational readiness.
Korean Air anticipates that this partnership will allow for the extension of its services to additional countries operating Lockheed Martin aircraft. The focus will be on identifying and pursuing opportunities within the global defense sector, capitalizing on the synergy created through this collaboration.
Moreover, Korean Air is actively involved in the F-16 Service Life Extension Program (SLEP), where it supports Lockheed Martin’s ongoing technological advancements and innovations.
