Gwangju Prosecutors Recover Over 320 Stolen Bitcoins from Phishing Site

The Gwangju District Prosecutors Office announced on the 19th that its investigators had accessed a phishing site and successfully recovered over 320 stolen Bitcoins, valued at approximately 31.7 billion won.
The prosecution explained that they identified the wallet to which the Bitcoins had been transferred shortly after becoming aware of the theft on the 16th of last month. They monitored the wallet in real-time, implemented freezing measures, and blocked transactions through domestic and international cryptocurrency exchanges.
The office stated that they had recovered the entire amount through follow-up actions, which included investigating the operators of the phishing site and the domain registration companies involved. As of now, no suspects have been reported arrested.
The Gwangju District Prosecutors Office had previously faced controversy over Bitcoins seized during an investigation into a gambling site, which were stolen in August of last year. It was reported that investigators inadvertently accessed the phishing site while checking the quantity of Bitcoins during the handover process of their duties.
A prosecutors office official stated, "We will continue to conduct a thorough investigation to clarify all aspects of the case."
