NHN, 3Q Sales Reach Record High on Stable Growth of Game and Payment Businesses
NHN (23,000 won ▼200 -0.86%) achieved record-breaking sales in the third quarter of this year, driven by steady growth in its main businesses and the establishment of its cloud business. The stable growth of its game and payment businesses, along with the solid performance of the cloud business, contributed to the overall performance of NHN.
On the 9th, NHN announced its third-quarter results, reporting consolidated sales of 571.5 billion won and operating profit of 23.4 billion won. This represents a year-on-year increase of 9.4% and 181.5% respectively. Compared to the previous quarter, sales and operating profit increased by 3.6% and 11.8% respectively, marking the highest quarterly sales ever.
Looking at each business segment, the game sector recorded sales of 110.2 billion won, a 4.9% decrease compared to the same period last year. This is due to the negative impact of the reverse base effect following the relaxation of regulations on web board games since July. However, mobile web board game sales increased by 14% compared to the previous year, thanks to the continuous differentiation of content such as "Territory War". In addition, the mobile game "Yo-kai Watch Puni Puni" in Japan achieved its highest quarterly sales ever.
The payment and advertising segment generated sales of 265.1 billion won, a 16.8% increase compared to the previous year, driven by the continued growth of NHN Paycos core business and the increase in payment volume from domestic and overseas large-scale affiliated stores of NHN KCP. In particular, the "sales-contributing transaction amount," which includes point payments, coupons, and corporate welfare solutions, recorded 1.4 trillion won, a 29% increase compared to the previous year, out of the total transaction amount of 2.6 trillion won for Payco in the third quarter.
The commerce segment recorded sales of 60.7 billion won, an 8.4% decrease compared to the previous year.
